6476. Austrian charter of nobility signed Maria Theresia

AUSTRIAN CHARTER OF NOBILITY. MARIA THERESIA (1717-1780). Holy Roman Emperess, Queen of Austria, Hungary and Crotatia.

Charter of nobility for Joseph Edlen von Kayser, manuscript on vellum, some pages within fine engraved rococo borders, 20 pages in folio (about 360x300 mm.), one full-page coat-of-arms in water-colours, signed by the queen. Dated Vienna 13 August, 1768.

Red velvet binding, partly worn and faded, defect or lacking wide yellow silk ties, some worming on inside of covers, endpapers some damage in upper outer corner, the imperial red wax seal in a brass casket, attached with a string, slight wear to seal. A few leaves with some minor folds to upper part, traces of paper clip.

Provenance: Per Edward Gustafsson (1893-1966), Swedish collector. Part of his large manuscript - and autograph collection was donated to the library of Uppsala University Carolina Rediviva.
