Return to an order of the Honourable House of Commons, dated 17 June 1833; - requiring, a copy or extract of any despatch which may have been addressed by the Court of Directors of the East India Company to the supra-cargoes at Canton, in reference to the voyage recently undertaken by the ship Amherst to the north-east coast of China; together with a copy of any reports or journals of the said voyage... Entirely uncut, in new brown half calf, gilt spine (Period Bookbinders, Bath). Title-page and final page browned, title-page mended in upper and lower margin, last page mended in upper margin and upper outer corner.

Contains on pp. 7-15 Gützlaff's "Report of proceedings on a voyage to the northern ports of China", dated Canton 10th October 1832, and on pp. 16-106 Lindsay's "Reports of proceedings on a voyage to the northern ports of China". The reports deals with the situation in the northern ports on the China Coast and Corea, a market survey on behalf of the East India Company.
